Malt FM: 14 Years in the Making

A concept music streaming platform reimagining radio for the digital age—built through persistence.

Malt FM: 14 Years in the Making

I like the vibe coders. But I'm not one of them. Sometimes it takes 14 years of persistence to make something you want. For it to reach there...

What is Malt FM?

Malt is a concept music streaming platform that reimagines the radio experience for the digital age. It's not about algorithms or discovery engines—it's about pure, endless listening. Curated thematic stations, engaging visual scenes, and seamless Spotify integration create a daily music journey that stays fresh and tailored to your mood.

Designed in Ireland. Coded in Finland.

The Journey

This started as an experiment. Since day one it's switched 4 music providers, built hundreds of thousands of followers, tens of thousands of members, millions of plays, awards, and even fanatics who felt it in their hearts. Lost all, found new, changed generations. And it's still an experiment. We try something new every day.

The project waited for a lot: for us to focus, for our lives to change, for new laws, for my slow coding, for Spotify's API, for Spotify's green light. The vision was always there—a visual and audio listening experience that doesn't just play music, but creates atmosphere.

What Makes It Different

Great playlists. Mood-supporting themes. Music that makes you curious about the next track. Designed to look good by my brother @mrozanvardar.

With Spotify's support, it finally becomes what it was meant to be: an integrated visual & audio listening experience. Not discovery. Not social. Just listening—the way radio used to feel, but built for how we consume music now.

The Reality of Building

Fourteen years is a long time to keep something alive while waiting for the right conditions. Four music provider switches. Regulatory changes. Technical limitations. Personal life changes. Building something you believe in often means outlasting the obstacles.

And now; the time has come.
