About this space
This is a place for thinking in public. Not a blog. Not a newsletter. A timeline where ideas accumulate, connect, and evolve.
What you'll find here
Four types of content, mixed together:
- Posts — longer essays on systems, work, attention, product thinking
- Notes — short observations, usually 80–200 words
- Projects — updates on things I'm building
- Book fragments — chapters or long-form pieces that might become something larger
Add-ons appear as updates under the original piece. If I change my mind or learn something new, it gets added to the thread instead of buried in a new post.
Why this format
Most personal sites force you to choose: blog or portfolio. Long-form or short. Finished or in-progress.
This doesn't. Everything lives in one timeline. You can filter by type or topic, but the default view is chronological. Ideas show up when they're ready, not when they fit a category.
How it works
Each piece has a topic slug. Add-ons attach to that topic. So if I write about remote work in November and have a new thought in December, it appears as an update on the original piece, not a separate post.
This means ideas can grow over time without fragmenting across multiple URLs.
Who this is for
People who think by writing. People who want to see how ideas develop, not just the polished final version. People tired of platforms that optimize for engagement instead of coherence.
About me
I'm Devrim Vardar—a product builder, writer, and researcher interested in systems, attention, and how technology shapes the way we work and think.
I've been building web products for over a decade. Some projects I'm working on:
- Playtoob — A YouTube companion that lets you watch what you choose, not what algorithms suggest. 300+ users, featured on Hacker News and Product Hunt.
- Malt FM — A concept music streaming platform designed in Ireland, coded in Finland. 14 years of persistence, now with Spotify integration.
- On Tap — A collection of free, instant web tools. Client-side processing, no login required. 338 visits in the last 30 days.
I also write about history and geopolitics. I've published books and journal articles on Istanbul's occupation (1918-1923), Ottoman modernization, and the Treaty of Lausanne. My work has appeared in academic journals and mainstream publications like Derin Tarih magazine.
This site is my public workspace—where I share essays, notes, projects, and publications. Ideas here aren't polished for promotion. They're shaped over time, connected through topics, and updated as I learn.
I'm based between Turkey and Europe, working remotely on products that prioritize clarity over engagement, and writing that values coherence over virality.
